About

Ever since she received her first camera at the age of 10, photographer Peggy L. Price has been capturing vivid images from sea to shore.

Best known for her stunning 12-meter sailing photography, Peggy has been the official photographer for two-time America's Cup defender and Rhode Island State Yacht, Courageous, since 1999. She has recorded a visual history of Courageous from her arrival at the Museum of Yachting, through her restoration to her winning lines to her successful return to active racing off Newport, Rhode Island. Peggy was also one of the original volunteers recruited by Niccolo Porzio, who helped to bring Courageous back to her winning form by spending time working on her.

Through Peggy's eyes one can almost hear the foam skimming alongside the sleek Twelves as they split the waves, the snap of sheets and sailcloth as they are pounded through tacks and jibes and the sounds of competitive team work from the decks. The photographic compositions are very clear and colors are portrayed in pleasing hues - sky and ocean blues, sea foam greens, crisp whites for the upwind shots and spinnakers filling on the downwind shots - a virtual garden of color blooming on the sea.

Her talents are not limited to sailing photography - talents honed chasing swift 12-meter yachts from a motorized, pitching tender, have enabled her to catch racing Thoroughbred horses and their jockeys in Aiken, SC, as they tear toward the finish line, again with her trademark clarity of composition with depth and range of rich colors.

Landscapes display varying stages in time and different degrees of light and texture - a mini vacation from the viewer's standpoint, can seen from the comfort of an easy chair at home.

Peggy's vivid details in the larger action and landscape photos extend into snaring little moments in daily life - one can almost hear the contented hum of a bumblebee visiting flowers in deep pinks that fade to soft, pleasing pastels, one can feel the quizzical gaze of a Amazon parrot as he contemplates the lens before him and one can certainly cherish the moment of a happy baby holding a favorite stuffed toy - moments that happen so quickly in a life and would otherwise be lost in time are preserved forever.
